Bio

I have a master’s degree in biology, a bachelor's degree in education and a professional interpretive guide certification. I moved to western Canada from Hungary long ago to follow my childhood dream of living in the “Wild West” of North America. Since then I worked several years in wildlife and human-wildlife conflict management projects most of which were human-bear conflict related. I've been involved in a great variety of works such as data work on human-wildlife conflict and wildlife mortality, bear conflict prevention, predator attack (on livestock) investigation, providing bear hazard assessments, conducting natural bear attractant surveys and a grizzly bear population survey, monitoring bears and caribou, aversive conditioning habituated bears, capturing and relocating problem bears as well as delivering public outreach and education programs. I've worked with Alberta Environment and Parks, Alberta Fish and Wildlife, private companies and non-profit organizations. I also have four decades of hiking experience throughout North-America, Europe and Asia. Although I have worked with captive bears as well, I am mostly fascinated by bears in their natural environment. My guidance and interpretation builds on this approach. I wish everyone to see the unity of our beautiful mountains and the wildlife calling it home. Human-wildlife coexistence and bear safety are also pivotal parts of my interpretation. I want to contribute to the safety of both people and wildlife and cooperate with Alberta Environment and Parks and Parks Canada in this never ending, but rewarding work.
